Android 5.0 Lollipop: Wallpapers

It packs 11 new wallpapers.

The first few are abstract geometric shapes, while the rest seem to be real photographs, but of what, I could not tell you. Maybe something related to geology, but definitely not lollipops. That's reserved for the easter egg apparently. And if you were looking for that kite flying wallpaper that we saw on the Nexus 6, you're out of luck. It doesn't seem to be available in the Lollipop Developer Preview.

The resolutions are all over the place, with most wallpapers sporting a height of 2560 pixels and a width that varies between 2323 and 3808 — see how much fun I had trying to align them all in this post? One wallpaper manages to disobey the height rule, with an 1866 x 2000 resolution. Still, they should all be large and tall enough to fit on both the Nexus 6 and 9, and all modern smartphones and tablets.

Exclusive Preview of Android L on Samsung Galaxy S5

At Google I/O 2014, Google announced the next iteration of its Android operating system – Android L. As the operating system itself was still in early stages, we only got a sneak peak at a few of the upcoming features. Even the name, Android L, is just a placeholder for now, and Google hasn’t made the final branding public yet. However, our sources have confirmed that it will eventually be called Android Lollipop, as rumoured previously. Google hasn’t released Android Lollipop yet, but as you probably know, OEMs get early access to the source code.

Thanks to our sources, we managed to get our hands on an early Android L – LRW58J – test build for the Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F). Initially, we wanted to make the firmware available for every Samsung fanatic out there. However, after testing it for two days, we decided that it was not suitable for every day use, as it contains a plethora of bugs and is slow as a turtle, so we won’t be publishing the build online. But, today, we will be giving you folks an exclusive preview of the new look and features of the TouchWiz-fied Android L. Even though the build itself is in very early stages, considering Samsung has just started testing it for the Galaxy S5, you will at least be able to get an idea on how Samsung is implementing TouchWiz into Android L, considering a lot of things need to undergo major revamps due to new design guidelines from Google. Google working on a 'Nexus Watch'?

Is it time for a Google Nexus Watch?

And why not? If speculations are to be believed, Google may not have got started with its real plan with Android Wear. Recently, Amid, all the rumors surrounding the the launch of 'Apple iWatch aka Apple Watch" Google might have planned to be faster and strategically placed in this upcoming market. This is why you already see Android wear watches in the market. Many believe that these are not final versions but a half-cooked products. There is a lot more to come.

Google still has full capability to create its own watch. If not, it can tie up with Motorola, Lg, Samsung, endless Android Hardware Partners to create Nexus Watches.

Google's watch might set the scope of usability & fast upgrades to Android Watch devices. It should not take a lot of time for us to know. The release of Android L is due anytime now, We would see a massive overhaul in the design. Google would add material design strategy to Android Wear Devices too. We hope to see a reference product soon. Till then drool on! :)
